Are Sea Turtles Endangered?
All species of sea turtles are noticing a drop in population. Some species are only considered threatened, while some have been listed as endangered. The hawksbill turtles, leatherback turtles and green turtles are listed as critically endangered.
Why are Sea Turtles Endangered?
There are three main reasons that sea turtles are becoming endangered:
1. They are being caught in fisherman's nets, and drowning because they cannot surface for air.
2. They are being caught for the use of their shells, for decoration and health purposes.
3. Beach development is disturbing turtle nests.
